The Global Recycle Standard (GRS)
Like us you must be aware of the fact how we humans are polluting our planet and what we will leave behind for our children. At Organic & More we look for ways to do something about it to be part of the green and clean earth revolution. Recycling is one such earth-friendly and consumer friendly decision to make sustainable products in textile industry.
With an emerging global textile resource scarcity, recycling the products is an optimum choice for manufacturers in the textile and clothing industry creating sustainable, earth-friendly products. The recycled component is retrieved through consumer waste only. Recycling prevents unnecessary waste and help in reducing the emission of CO2 and other of human-caused greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels. So, through recycling, a textile manufacturer can contribute to protect our environment.
Global Recycle Standard (GRS), administered by the Textile Exchange, a global non-profit organization, certification does this job by verifying recycled content and reducing the textile industry’s impact on the world’s natural resources mainly water, soil, air, and ultimately people.
What is Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certification?
The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certification is a stringent certification process for an apparel manufacturing company that complies with recycled content of an apparel product in such a way that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are reduced. From recycled content we mean recycled polyester, recycled cotton, and recycled fiber. This certification covers every aspect of clothing such as spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing and stitching etc. Being GRS certified motivate us to claim to our clients that our recycle management system is risk free. This certification also creates trust in our clients that we are socially responsible company making environment friendly products with no health risk.
What is the benefit?
Global Recycle Standard enables us to work with recycled textile component such as polyester blended with cotton to make garments out of them. Recycled polyester can also be blended with organic cotton to make stuffed quilts or soft toys. We also manufacture recycled poly-cotton apparel using recycled polyester. Garments made from recycled fabrics are truly eco-friendly and promote the use of recycled product in our community with zero health risk.
