How to Design &take specs for Custom Garments?
The design of custom garments begins with a fashion flat to deliver all details about garment. On the basis of your drawing skills, many designers do these things on computer by using Adobe Illustrator.Sketches are finalized where they are converted from fashion flats to sketches that comprises of callouts of garment details. These flats are compiled in a tech pack that includes everything from a factory would require to know about making garment including: sketches, fabric details, trim details, detail drawings, color details, graded spec and print/pattern details.
Finding a Factory & Sourcing
This is the most daunting parts of the process if you don’t know where to find a reputable manufacturing unit. Many companies will enlist a service or agency to help to find a factory, as it can be daunting to do by your own and feel self-assured that you are working with factory that will deliver quality products on time. Furthermore,is challenging to search a factory that wants to work with new designers. While it costs you to hire an agency, it save time, aggravation and resources over the long run.
Production Development
After finding and sourcing a factory to manufacture products, the product development starts. The procedure will include submit and review of items relevant to the garment including knit downs, lab dips, strike offs, hand looms, trim submits, fabric quality submits, prototypes, photo & sales samples, pre-production samples, and top of production samples. All these items go through review and approval or rejection process to make sure that the final garment is made accurately and mistakes are corrected during development.
